Morning from hell

I just got to work and needed to let off some steam here. As I write this, my heart is racing and I find I have to keep taking deep breathes to relieve the stress I'm feeling right now.

It all started at home when I woke Sabrina up to get ready for school. I helped her pick some clothes out, which I think will become a nightly thing now cause I hate having to ask her between her being so groggy and shutting her eyes, "how about this" and I get "uh uh". After a few tops and shorts I tell her "I'm just gonna pick something out if you can't" which at that time she finally decides quickly.

I then go into my bathroom in my bedroom to continue getting ready myself. Meanwhile, I have the morning news on so I can watch for the traffic report so I can decide which route to take. I happen to notice on the news they were showing a cute little otter. I guess it was something they were going to talk about after the commercial break. My big mistake was that I said "Awwww, an otter" which got Sabrina to come in to see it however, she didn't get there quick enough that she missed it. At that moment I notice she STILL isn't dressed. Dude!! What the hell is she doing in there??? I'm like "Get your butt in your room and get dressed!!" She says "But I want to see the otter". I told her I wanted her to get dressed first cause it was almost 8am and then she can see the otter. She replies to me that she's just a little girl. LOL (it's funny now but it wasn't at the time). I say "You're six years old. You are more than capable of getting dressed. You have no problem any other time". She goes in her room and comes back and sits at the entrance of my bedroom (mind you she's still isn't dressed). I then tell her to get her clothes and bring them in my room and get dressed. So as I'm washing my face, I peak in my room to see if she's dressed yet. She wasn't so I turned the TV off. At this point I'm yelling cause she begins to tell me in a whiny tone "But I want to see the otter" and keeps repeating herself and starting to throw a tantrum. That's right..A TANTRUM! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told her that she is six years old, not two and that she always makes a point to remind us that she is six and that she better start acting like it. I also tell her when she acts like this, I am not going to reward her by letting her see the otter on TV and that all she had to do was get dressed. She hurried and got dressed as I was trying to get ready myself. She then says "I'm dressed", basically wanting me to turn the TV back on. I think NOT! "Brush your teeth" is what I told her. I'm so fed up at this point, I don't want her to see the otter at all. Maybe this will teach her next time. She starts to brush her teeth and whining at the same time about how she wants to see the otter. "You don't know when to quit about the otter, do you??" I yelled. I had to leave the room and make her lunch cause I just about lost it at that point.

A couple minutes later Sabrina comes into the kitchen and asked if she could now see the otter on TV. I said NO cause I should not have gotten that upset just to get her to get dressed. UNACCEPTABLE!! When I told her no, she started to get upset again and so I sent her to her room. As she went to her room she was screaming. OH HELL NO!!! I hurried down to her room and put her on her bed and I kneeled down to her level and explained to her why she was in trouble. (Now, one of my friends had told me that she was watching Nanny 911 and one of the disciplinary actions they tried was having the child write in a notepad why they were in trouble and how they would fix the problem for next time, so I've been trying this myself.) So at this point I grabbed the notepad and gave it to Sabrina and told her to write about why she was in trouble. She did and once she was done she came to me and read it. Basically it gave both of us some time to calm down. She was in her room reflecting on her behavior while I was FINALLY able to get myself ready.

Paul ended up having to take Sabrina to school as I was now running late. Before they left, Sabrina kept hugging me as if she was really sorry and just wanted my acceptance and love. She'll always have that cause no matter what, I still love her to pieces, just not the tantrums!

Now that I had a chance to "reflect" (LOL) here on my blog, I think I feel a little better too! Maybe now I can have a better day! Hope all of you have a better day than the way mine started out :O)

Camping and Wine Tasting

As you all know, this past weekend we went camping up at Calaveras Big Trees for Paul's birthday. It's the place we always go to camp. It's basically like a second home. Paul's always been the "mountainy" person in our family as I've always been the "beachy" person. I have grow to love the mountains but my greatest passion belongs to the ocean!

Sabrina and I on the hammock at our campsite.

The three of us went camping with my sister-in-law, Nancy and brother-in-law, David. We all had a great time! At night we played some poker and during the day some Yahtzee. The big thing that we have been wanting to conquer was a hike each time we come up to camp. This time it was Paul's idea for which trail we would take. His choice was the Lava Bluffs Trails. We hadn't read up on anything about this trail, it was just a trail that we hadn't taken yet. When we grabbed the pamphlet for the trail, Paul checked to see how long it was, 2-3 hours and was about a 3 mile hike, "OK, that's not too bad" we thought cause we knew we could do it in the lesser of the 2 times listed. Our last camping trip we took a 5 mile hike that was to take 2.5-5 hours and we made it in the lesser of the time listed so we were pretty we thought.

As we began hiking, there were a lot of sunny spots with no trees cause we were so high up and with the heat, we were sweating a lot. Then the very steep hills we had to hike up, something we were NOT expecting. There were also a lot of loose rocks which made it real slippery and it made me a little uneasy cause we were next to some cliffs with trees down the side but still, we had Sabrina so it made me really nervous anyway. We also started to drink our water faster than the last time because of the heat and began to think we wouldn't have enough before the hike was over. Here are some pictures of the hike....

But after this beautiful, agonizing and treacherous hike.....WE DID IT!!!! Here's a picture of us a soon as we got done. We can now say we've done this trail cause you won't find me on it again!! LOL!!

After our camping trip we headed to Murphy's to do a little wine tasting and shopping, or more like "window shopping". At this one place, Solomon Wine Company, Paul and David did some tasting (I would just take a swig as I was driving) but then the gentleman that was helping us asked if I liked the more "fruity" types and I was like "Well, YES!" so he scooped some "yummi-ness" into a wine glass and gave it to me. "SOLD!!!" He called it the Wine-arita. You can call it what you want but I'll call it "De-lish!" I just wanted to lick the glass clean. My brother-in-law had to try it from the way I acted when I tasted! He was sold on it too!!

After that, we walked around, hit a few little shops and a candy store. There was also a little stream for the kids to play in so I let Sabrina dip her feet but we then made our way home. We look forward to another trip soon....with my brother this time :O) Here's some pics from Murphy's.

My new accessory

As some of you know, I have suffered from headaches throughout my life, as well as migraines. The migraines have only been a recent thing though in the last 6 years. So, it had been over 15 years since my last eye appointment. I felt it was time to make an appointment the day I was dealing with yet another migraine. Enough is enough, right?!

When I was in junior high, I was supposed to wear reading glasses. In fact, I had a pair but I never wore them because when they sat on my nose it would give me a headache. I mean, I'm not going to wear something that's gonna cause me to be uncomfortable, something that I already have to deal with anyways. If anything, I'm gonna avoid anything and everything that causes my headaches.

As the years have gone on, the headaches have become constant. Maybe for the fact that I take Excedrin on a daily basis. However, that is something I've been working on eliminating. Then a few months back my brother, who also suffers from headaches and migraines (maybe it's just hereditary..LOL!) went in to have his eyes checked and sure enough, he needed glasses. As he was telling me about this, I thought I would do my own eye test. Covering my left eye with my hand and trying to read things, and then I tried the other eye. Sure enough, my left eye has gotten worse over the years. That basically confirmed that it was time to get my eyes checked. I'm a procrastinator though, so it took another migraine to get my butt down to the optometrist. So, the end result is my new accessory, only for reading and driving at night though. Thank goodness cause I'm not used to the new me....

My hubby's birthday!

So today is my man's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE!!! Every year I feel he gets jipped on his birthdays cause he always has to work. I wanted to make sure that he gets to do what it is that HE wants to do. So this year we are going camping, something he loves to do!! We're actually leaving after work today. It should be lots of fun! While we're there, we're gonna go hiking. Something we've been doing this year when we go camping. It's good exercise, fun and just an overall beautiful setting!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Be safe in whatever you do!

First of many!

Ok, so this is a new blog I started. Some of you may have read the one I started yesterday but I felt the need to make a new one. Reason I changed it was because I had sent the original link to a couple people that I didn't really think about it before sending it to them. I feel this is a place for me to share my thoughts and adventures and I don't want to have to censor myself too much, if at all! I'm sure you all can understand that.

So anyways, a lot of stuff with be coming up so I will be updating this a lot. I hope you all enjoy what you read as I tend to like to put my thoughts down and why not, share them with the people I love!

Hope you all are doing well and stay tuned.....
