Why Bother

This is the scene of the crime.

Let me elaborate, shall I...

You see, for the last...ah heck...six years or less, my husband and I have been woken through out the night to a whiny little dog who needs to go potty outside. Sometimes, several times through out the night. We even let him out before we go to bed too! Now, don't get me wrong....it doesn't happen every night. No...but enough that we have finally gotten tired of it. Literally!

Ozzy, is really good about not going potty in the house. He is house broken however, he is a living creature who can not hold it forever. He is getting older though. He'll be 12 yrs old this year so I'm sure that could be playing a role in all this.

For instance, we let him out before we leave for work. We are gone over 8 hrs a day and he is really good about holding it. However, there are times he just can't and we are left with a surprise. Honestly though, I can't get mad at him when we leave him in the house all day without a way out.

So then at night, when we are in bed and we wake up several times in the middle of the night to him having to go potty, so we let him out but then sometimes when we wake up, he'll have a present for us....so we get really mad.

SO, we bought this...

A doggy door!

He's a smart dog! He can figure it out. He has at my in-laws house, so it should be a breeze. Easy-schmeze. All is good....so we think!

WRONG!!

It's almost as if he is mad at us for giving him the freedom to come and go as he pleases. So what thanks do we get???

HE HAS BEEN LEAVING PRESENTS EVERY DAY FOR US!!

WTH???

So this morning....again! I shoved his nose up to it (not in it cause that's just gross...and mean) and then gave him a quick slap on the bottom and sent him right through that doggy door.....and then I put the sleeve in it to lock him out for a good 15 minutes. It's a nice day out, you would think "What kind of punishment is that?" A good one cause it's really windy out there right now and he's an indoor dog. Sure he love, love, loves to be outside but when his lack of fur doesn't keep him warm, those windy days could be unbearable to him.

So what does he do?? Whines and barks and runs around like "What should I do?" looking frantic or "I'm freezing mama!! Let me in!!!" But no! There he stays for 15 whole minutes.

When he finally came in, he looked wounded as if he knew he was bad. I just hope he learned his lesson cause why even bother getting a doggy door if he's just gonna be worse??!!

Anyone else have this problem? Any recommendations???

A Valuable Lesson

I'm sure you've all heard about how sometimes when people get emails, you can't always tell how the person is sounding and things can sound and turn out completely wrong and then you've got a big problem, right? Well, the same thing goes for texting.

You see, my mom and I were texting last night and apparently my mom took me completely wrong and I could tell by her constant capitalizing words, that she got mad. Personally, she took me all wrong and now I'm stuck in a situation that I hate being in.

1. I have no idea if my dad knows about this texting issue. If he does, he will blow it even MORE out of proportion. He may write me a nasty letter, which in turn I will refuse to read or the next time they see me, I will get a lecture, as if I were 13 yrs old all over again.

2. My mom is ultra sensitive and according to my husband, I inherited that trait, and so she will act all funny towards me and lecture me also.

Either way, I'm gonna have to plead my case cause again, she took me completely wrong!!

See for yourself....

Now, before I share the conversation, you must know that my husband and I had just talked two days prior about our eating habits and how we need to change what we order, as well as our daughter when we go out to eat. I have told my mom in the past I don't want her giving my daughter sweets all the time or donuts or just junk. She's good for the most part but I will pick up my daughter and she will share how she had an ice cream and a milkshake. I never say anything to my mom cause I know how sensitive she is and clearly, will get defensive.

The only reason I don't want sweets much is because diabetes runs big time on boths sides of the family so I try and watch her intake. Don't get me wrong, my child has her fair share of junk. I don't want you to think I'm depriving her, cause I'm not. I just don't want overkill. I know how grandmas can be sometimes. ;o)

Anyways, here is the conversation:

Me: Hi ma! I know I said I would bring over "S" karate outfit to your house but I had to wash it so I'm just gonna put it in her backpack instead so when you get her, she'll already have it.

Mom: I just got your message sweetie. Not a problem. I was telling dad when we pick her up, which is at 2:30, I thought instead of us coming home we can go to eat where we know dad can eat and then take "S" to her class. Love you, mom.

Me: Ok but we don't want "S" eating sweets cause we're watching our eating habits. No burgers for her! we're cutting that on her. She doesn't know either.

Mom: We don't out to dinner to have burger.

Me: WHAT????!!! Haha. That made NO sense...lol! You should read back what you put...hahaha

Mom: We don't go out to dinner to have burgers.

Me: Ok. Haha

Mom: That wasn't meant to be funny

Me: No but I was still laughing about what you previously put. Please don't be mad. "P" and I were just talking about our eating habits and I feel everyone who has her needs to know so it can be enforced. It's just what we want. Nothing against you guys.

Mom: Well I gave her that one hamburger a few weeks ago. And I feed her good when I cook. I understand. I'm not going to give her a bunch of sweet. And besides, I didn't give a bunch of junk for Easter. I love you.

Me: Ok. Thank you! I appreciate it. I love you too!

Mom: I think I do Once in a while GIVE HER SOMETHING. When she wants something bad, I have told her no because you told me. I'm not a child.

Me: I know you not a child. I am a mom and I should not have to worry about voicing my concerns with "S". I just want everyone on the same page.

Mom: I'm a mom too, so I should voice mine as well. I thought I did with you guys and if you have a problem with that, Please by all means tell me. Maybe I can make sense of it. But I'm not going to feed her junk all the time. I feel I take very good care of her.

Me: I didn't say you didn't. I was just saying because "P" and I were just discussing out eating habits two days ago and felt you should know. That's all. Again, nothing against you!

Mom: Kimmy, and I'm just telling you what I do.

Me: I can tell you are getting mad at me though.

Mom: No matter what your saying to me, you talk to me like I feed her junk all the time. I give her good food most of the time. I buy her a fruit when we go to the store and yes she will ask for a donut, and if I do, that is it because I have told her mommy don't want me to give you junk. I don't want you to tell me stuff like that. Like I'm a child. Maybe you feel your not, but what I read sounds like it.

Me: I'm sorry if it came across like that but that wasn't not my intentions. Plus, I know my child and how she will beg for crap like that.

Mom: Like I said, I'm a mom too. I feel I do a very good job on taking care of her.

Me: Yes, I know. I don't complain but if I ever did have a concern, I'm afraid to share it now.

Mom: It doesn't work with us most of the time. Kimmy, I know when to say no to her. I'M NOT LIKE SOME OTHER GRANDMAS

Same here but you ought to hear yourself sometimes.

Me: I do feel you take good care of her but I just need everyone on the same page.

Mom: I feel I am.

Me: Ok. Love you mom AND dad.

Mom: We love you too.

Okay, so because of this, I had decided I didn't want to deal with it and being lectured (possibly) so I asked my husband to pick our daughter up from my parents house. When he gets there, my mom asks my husband "What, is Kimmy afraid to come here now" smiling and all. He just said I was stuck in traffic and then they got into the conversation of how this whole texting thing got thrown all out of proportion and apparently my mom was completely fine! Thank goodness! I prayed and asked God to help me with this situation. He's so good!

Anyways, the lesson here is, just call people! In fact, my mom told my husband to just call her from now on so this doesn't happen again. Yah, no kidding!!

This has been a valuable lesson, that's for sure!!

Six Word Saturday!

Oil Change, Party, Sharks Playoff Game!

Yep, needless to say.....I'm busy today! Which means, it's 8:05am and I'd better get my tushy up off this computer so I can get ready and be out the door before it's too late to take the car down for that oil change. If I'm late for that, my whole day will be out of whack.

Have a wonderful day everyone!! Now head on over to Cate's to see what everyone else is saying!

Advice...

Growing up, I had always thought about what I would look like at 20 yrs old, 30 yrs old and so on.

Now that I am in my mid to late 30's, I feel I just haven't changed that much.

I usually get carded when I buy beer at the store, unless I have my daughter with me or if I know the people there. However, these last two Reno trips in the past month have really been a treat. Both times I got carded a couple time.

The first trip, we were at a blackjack table and the dealer lady kept looking at me with question and then finally asked me for my I.D. When I handed it to her, the look on her face said it all. Then she said "Wow, I would have never guessed!" Then she proceeded to ask the guy sitting at the table with us "How old do you think she is?" He took a guess and guessed 10 yrs off my age. Nice!

Then the second trip, we were at that wheel game where you place a bet on a $40, $20, $10, $5, $2 &/or $1. The dealer there also kept looking at me with question in his eyes and then went for it, "Can I see your I.D. please?" I obliged. Meanwhile, you got my husband saying "Can you just card me too?!!" seriously joking. The dealer thought it was funny, and happily declined his offer. Funny thing is, my husband is only a year and 6 days older than me!

Anyways, I used to hate getting carded but now that I'm getting older, I take it as a compliment, and I don't normally take compliments well either. At this point....the more the merrier, right?!

So, a couple days ago I was sharing this with my BFF. I was so excited cause this is a big deal. 40 is literally around the corner for me and I'm still getting carded! Yeah, I'm excited and I want to share this with her!!

When I did, I didn't expect the response I got. In fact, I was a bit hurt and offended.

Would you be if this is what you heard?

"Are you serious? I'm sorry my friend....you look young but not that young."

.......Silence.......

Are you kidding me? My own BFF just said what??

My reply? "That's okay. I'm gonna take the compliment and run with it!"

I don't know what to say. I'm a bit hurt...........and really offended! Should I tell her?

I would NEVER in my life bring someone down at such a high moment.

I just don't know how I should approach this or if I should just let it be.

Any thoughts?

A Reno Wedding...

In Pictures...

Oh, and apparently I got her stockings all wrong. I guess I must have gotten my idea of ripped up stockings from my constant listening to Keisha's song too much!

The wedding went fine. The softy that I am, I have decided to give them pictures anyways, even though she still hasn't asked. I just hope that everything goes good for my BIL. I just hope it all works out and things get better.

We'll see....

Oh, something I just couldn't resist not sharing with you all. Sunday night after we got home from Reno, I was on the phone with my brother and my daughter comes in and writes a note to me "Caressa (new SIL) is in the newspaper". Thinking to myself, "what did she do to end up in the paper". After the call, I came out and asked "Why is Caressa in the newspaper?" My daughter hands it to me...

Enough said! lol

Six Word Saturday!

Reno Bound....For A Wedding Tomorrow!

Okay, let's get something perfectly straight here. I love weddings! I love that they symbolize love and trust, togetherness and unity. Yes, I love weddings!! However, in this case...don't be surprised if I come back to report that I raised my hand when the minister asked those echoing words, "Does anyone here object to this wedding?" You see, this wedding is for my brother-in-law. As excited, nervous and anxious he may be to marry this...this...wo.MAN tomorrow, nothing could be more wrong than him binding himself to this girl. I know, nothing more than sour words for the new "couple-to-be" but honestly, he's making a big mistake! I know, it's not for me to decide for him or our place, blah, blah, blah. I (We) are just looking out for his best interest here! He's just gonna have to learn the hard way, I guess.

Oh wait...what? You want me to shed some light on the subject? Happy to oblige!

Well, you see....she is extremely mean to my BIL. She hits him, talks down to him calling him names, she has already CHEATED on him and she has used the "F" bomb at my child once. I was NOT happy about that one but by the time I found out, a few days passed and then I was planning her baby shower which I was going to talk to her about it after, but then her grandma ended up in the hospital in the middle of the shower and how tacky of me would it be if I ripped into her about the "F" word burst when she was crying about her grandma's health. Yeah, I know. So basically, I chalked that one up...until the next time. Which, there better not be a "next time".

Then, when they had booked the chapel, no one on his side of the family was invited. That's right! Reason? Because her grandma and brother couldn't afford to go. Oh wait! We were invited. My husband and I....because I have a camera and I like taking pictures. Yeah. She never asked me but that's what I'm hearing. My husband worked it out though, where everyone can attend.

They do have a little girl together. She's one years old. She also has a little boy who's a three, I think, with someone else. He thinks if he marries her, all will be this picture perfect family. Personally though, I think it can only get worse from here. Just sayin'.

So YES....we have sour apples for her. I will be taking picture though. I wouldn't miss an opportunity to get this on camera. Why? Her outfit....that's why. Mind you, she petite yet has tattoos all over, including this big 'ol green monster on her forearm (don't ask me) and Pinhead (from Hellraiser) on her somewhere else. Can't remember where that one is located though. She will be sporting short blue hair and a leopard print dress. To spice things up a bit, her stockings will be ripped. Ah yes, nice touch!

I think you get my point. I shall leave it at that :0/

Stay tuned for a follow up report....with pictures?!

Let it snow...

It's Spring time.

This is California.

The weather here during the Spring time is usually rainy or sunny, temps from 50's - 70's.

Well, California weather hasn't been so normal these days.

As I was driving home from work yesterday, my husband calls to ask me how the weather was where I was (I work about 40 minutes from home). I tell him it was cloudy but it looked really sketchy out in his direction though. That's when he tells me that it had just snowed there for at least a minute. It was a mix of hail and snow. He tried to get the camera in time but it stopped before he could get it.

Mind you, we are sometime like 60 - 100 feet above sea level. So we usually don't see snow. Rarely.

So at that point, I figured it would make it's way in my direction while driving home.

Sure enough....

It was a mix of hail and snow. It went on for a good 15 minutes.

It went on long enough to let the snow/ice build up on my car and everyone else's cars around me.

That is my driver side mirror with snow build up.

(pic below)

It really was amazing!

Now today, it's sunny out. Cold...but blue skies.

Wish we would have our normal weather back though. I'm not cut out for this cold/icy/snow stuff. I live in California for a reason ;0)

15 Minutes of Fame

I'm just guessing here but I would have to say it was around 1997 or 1998.

We were in the bleachers, front row at the Oakland A's game in Oakland. Matt Stairs was up at bat. Honestly, I don't remember the sequence of things like a man would. My husband would probably tell you that it was the 5th inning, Matt Stairs had 1 out and 1 ball but I couldn't tell you.

MATT STAIRS BV$5 Pictures, Images and Photos

What I can tell you is, Matt Stairs swung his bat and hit the ball.....right in our direction! HOME RUN! Here it comes! I see it coming right for me! I'm trying to dodge the thing, right to left. Just as it makes its way, I duck....right into my husband's (fiance at the time) stomach allowing him to miss the ball. The guy behind us also tries to catch it to no avail. It drops and my husband and the guy scramble to get it. We have no idea what it must of looked like. Well, not until we got home.

My husband had decided to tape the game, ya know...just in case we make it on t.v. He fasts-forwards it and STOP! There it is! That whole scene in the bleachers. Matt Stairs ball! All caught on ESPN! Not only THAT! The commentator guys were making fun of me because "She's in the way!!!!" Oh forgive meeee! Who cares if I get smacked in the head with the ball. Let the poor guy get the ball...Geeeeez! What the heck was I thinking?!

Now I wish I had that tape to share. Unfortunately, I wasn't going to be home and Melrose Place was on and I had to tape it on something. Not realizing it was my 15 minutes of fame I was taping over :o( *sigh*

This has been apart of Mama Kat's Writing Prompts.

Six Word Saturday!

My Time For Blog Spring Cleaning!

Yep....Today was the day I finally got rid of my "free" custom layout that I had won well over a year ago. Maybe two years ago.

I'm one of those people that won't pay a bunch of money for a layout because I get bored. Plus, I like to update with the season. Keep it fresh and new! I'm surprised I kept the one I had for as long as I had. It was pretty but I like color! The background I did have was just a gray and that wasn't cutting it any longer.

PLUS....It was high time I got rid of that picture of the three of us. I wasn't diggin' it any longer.

~~~
Now head on over to Cate's to see what else is going on around blogland.
Hope to see ya all again!!
Kay-Raw-Taaaaaay!!
Last week my husband and I registered our daughter for Karate. This has been something I've been wanting to put her in for awhile now. We just hadn't...for a number of reasons....
1. Laziness
2. Money
3. Laziness
4. Never home
5. By the time we remembered about it, it was too late in the day.
6. Laziness
I think you get the point.
However, it was the first sport I found reasons to allow her to attend classes for.
1. Discipline
2. Exercise
3. Self defense
4. Structure
5. Respect
& so on...
Like I said, we FINALLY did it!
We ordered her uniform last week but it hadn't come in until yesterday.
By the time she received her uniform, she had already earned 3 stripes on her belt!!
She's really enjoying the classes which are 3 days a week. We've already notice a big difference in her flexibility too.
Hopefully she sticks with it and maybe she'll become a black belt!
We're really proud of her!
