Writing Assigment: Celebrities!

I decided to do a Mama Kat workshop this week. I don't even feel like blogging right now but I thought this would be a fun one for me so what the heck, right?!

So anyways, this week I've decided to do....

Prompt #1: Write about an experience you have had with a celebrity.(inspired by Jenn from She Says…)

This is a super easy one for me. A perfect one for me also considering I'm the Hollywood gossip guru, the star struck celebrity fan and wanna-be paparazzo! Yes, this was the perfect one for me!

I don't just have 1 story to share with you. Not even 2! No siree....well, let's just get on with this....and I'll try not to drag it out on you ;O)
{UPDATE: my husband just reminded me of another one so I have to add this cause I forgot. Sorry to make this so long!}

Okay......
Celebrity #1

bill clinton Pictures, Images and Photos

It was back when former President Bill Clinton was campaining to be President. He came to the town next door to ours and was having one of those speech things. Since we're Democrats and my dad was voting for him (I was too young to vote), my dad wanted to go and see his speech and hopefully meet him. I on the other hand saw "Famous Person!" so of course I had to be there.

I got to meet him and shake his hand. Fortunately, it was before the whole Monica Lewinsky thing..lol!

So yes, I can say I have met President Bill Clinton, one of the President's of the United States...before he was President! ;O)

Celebrity #2 & #3

It was back in 1990. They were having a teen fair in my town. I was not quite 16 yrs old yet either. Almost though. I intentionally went to this teen fair because there was going to be two teen idols there. You know me and celebrities! Oh yes...this love affair has gone on quite some time, my friends.

Anyways, it was the days of "Life Goes On" and "Alf". So they had Tommy Puett, the blonde neighbor boy from "Life Goes On"

and Andrea Elson, the daughter from "Alf"

Andrea Elson

Some of you may know who they are, some probably don't.

Anyways, there was a big crowd of girls waiting in line to meet Tommy Puett. I was there with my mom's BFF, Diane and her step-daughter Wendy, my BFF at the time. We were no exception to this crowd. It wasn't that I really watched Life Goes On and had a mad crush on the kid. No, not at all. It just had "CELEBRITY" written all over it so I was there!!

We waited and waited and they closed off the line before we even got close so Diane said to me and Wendy, "Come on! We'll go around and see if we can get closer." Wendy stayed but I followed Diane. We went all the way around the building to a different entrance where we could see him and his agent people. We were right there in the front looking at the ravenous girls. The agents people saw us and we asked if we could get an autograph and they told us to follow them. They took us to this room. It was like a conference room. Not only was Tommy Puett there but so was Andrea Elson. Diane and I were able to get autographs and our pictures with them. It was so awesome! Only thing is, I have no idea where my memorabilia is. There probably packed away in the garage. No where to be found. All I have is the memory and it was great!

Celebrity #4

It was 1993 or 1994. My hubby (boyfriend at the time) and I read in the paper (yeah, we had to read the paper to get our information back then cause we didn't have a computer..lol) that the Oakland Coliseum was filming "Angels in the Outfield" and they needed extras.

Filming a movie + Actors = I'm There!!

Both Tony Danza and Danny Glover were there but this particular day was Danny Glover! That's right! I was so excited too! After filming some, he came right by our section in the stands and started signing autographs. I had nothing but saw someone else have Danny sign a dollar so that's what I did. I grabbed a dollar.

It's reads, starting from the top: To Kim Go in Peace Danny Glover

And lastly......

Celebrity #5

My husband and I were at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Don't recall exactly what year but it was before we got married. Couldn't have been that long before so maybe somewhere between 1999-2001.

We were playing blackjack and while we were chatting with the dealer, I was scoping things out. Hoping to see a movie star. Then after a little while, I noticed someone. That's when I asked the dealer "Is that Dennis Rodman?" The dealer replied back "Oh, yeah". Dennis came right over to the table right next to us. I was so excited! The pitboss got him his chips and at one point, Dennis knocked over his drink. When the people working in the middle grabbed a towel to wipe it up, Dennis grabbed it and started to clean up his own mess. I. Was. Impressed!! You would think someone famous would expect others to clean their messes, not him!

I never did get an autograph but I did purposely get up and sit at the seat at my table that backed up to his...hee hee! Just so I can say "I was like, seriously only a foot away from DENNIS RODMAN!! I could have touched him if I wanted too!" Okay! Anyways. I am by no means a basketball fan...AT ALL! But he's famous!!! Hello?!

Okay yeah....there is a celebrity #6,

but most of you already know about this one cause I just blogged a blurp about going to see her a few weeks ago so I'll make it short.

We went to The Grove in Hollywood a few weeks back just for the book signing for Jennifer Love Hewitt! I was so excited cause I'm a huge fan and even watch Ghost Whisperer too!

Okay...now head on over to Mama Kat's to see what other bloggers are writting about.

I took the leap. Yah me!

I'm really bad about making appointments. Like for doctors or dentist or just whatever. I don't like getting on the phone, which I think may be my problem.

Wehn I do remember, it's while I'm in the shower or in the car. Those moments when I just can't grab the phone and call. By the time I'm in the place where I need to be to make that call, it always slips my mind. Convenient, right?

I'm that "anti-phone calls"!

dentist Pictures, Images and Photos

So, last year I actually made an appointment for the dentist, for both myself and my daughter. The appointment was right smack in the middle of March, tax season. My husband had an appointment a couple weeks prior and he got a reminder call so I didn't worry about it. They were gonna call me, right? WRONG! I never got a call so I never made my appointment.

A year later, still no visit to the dentist.

Well, I finally got the urge and my memory was working at the moment that I called. I made that leap! My daughter and I actually have an appointment next month. I can't wait to have nice sparkly teeth and nice fresh breath. You know, that feeling when you feel ready to face the world cause you just left the dentist feeling minty clean and leftovers of all the gritty stuff.

Just one thing makes me ponder about the dentist. Why on earth do they ask you questions while they have tools in your mouth? I mean really? Is that necessary? It's probably an inside joke thing they have going. Also, because they know this is probably one of the world's most asked question, that they have to keep it going just to be funny.

Oh, and can you imagine going to the dentist with this guy as your dentist?

Toss those cookies

I'm not talking the yummy kind either that you later feel guilty about eating cause you just went hog wild. No. I'm talking the computer kind. So, the next time you plan on packing your bags and traveling, keep this in mind before making your reservations.

airplane Pictures, Images and Photos

My husband loves to check the travel section of the newspaper. In the Sunday paper, there is always great information for us as we tend to go places all the time. I know, you were probably completely unaware that we go places all the time, huh?! ;O)

Anyways, he was checking the travel section again this weekend and what valuable information he found this time.

You see, when we plan trips to different places, we always check different sites at least a month or two in advance meanwhile, checking these sites often to get the best deal. Apparently, airlines and other travel websites know this and when they know we're about to make our reservation, they jack the price up. We noticed this on our most recent reservation for our Vegas trip coming up in June.

What happens is, these sites will place a cookie on your web browser and they track each time you go onto their site and just as you start the reservation process, the price all of a sudden goes up and the previous price is no longer available. How convenient, right? So what they (travel experts) recommend is to delete all the cookies so they can't track you, that way you still get that great deal.

Here's the article for more information.

Talk About a Flashback!

So here I post about missing this, so what perfect time to post about this great memory.

My husband and I tend to browse Youtube.com for things in our area just to kind of remind us how something used to be. Or we'll look something up to show our daughter things that we have once seen.

So yesterday (today), we were once again browsing the "tube" looking for a ride at an amusement park in our area. Only thing is, this ride is no longer there, hence the reason for wanting to show her. It was called The Edge however, that same ride is still at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH, which we've been before. There it's called The Demon Drop.

Anyways, I'm getting off track here.

So, as we're browsing, we come across an old commercial to the amusement park out here from 1978! Oh. My. GOSH!! After many changes and names to go with it, talk about a major flashback. I remember it being Marriott's Great America to Paramount's Great America to what it is now, just Great America.

I totally remember this commercial too. It's so funny how you forget these things cause how many years have passed but as soon as you see them, it's as if you just saw it not that long ago. Just Crazy!

Here's the commercial for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy! :D

I Sure Miss...

Isn't it amazing how a simple song, movie or picture will make you reminisce and miss something so terribly?

The other day I was watching the movie, Murphy's Romance with Sally Field and James Garner. Such a good movie. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Anyays, that movie was made back in 1985 and it made me realize one thing, something that I have felt before, many times before but I had that feeling once again.......I sure miss the 80's!!

Los Angeles Pictures, Images and Photos

I sure miss the Summer days in the 80's. I remember the feeling the sunny days would give me. In fact, I always referred to them as "an L.A. day", even though back then I had only been to L.A. once in my life but that is the feeling it gave me anyway. Still today I say the same thing and now so does my husband.

duran Pictures, Images and Photos

I sure miss the music. Back then I never went to any concerts. It just was never my thing but as I got older did I start to see all the rock bands. However, it wasn't until recently did I start to see all the 80's bands that I loved so much, from Duran Duran to George Michael to even Madonna. In fact, this Summer at Santa Cruz, the Flock of Seagulls will be there. Just another 80's band to cross of my list.

80\'s style Pictures, Images and Photos

I sure miss the silly art, decor and patterns. Even though it's so outdated and I would never have it in my house today, I sure do miss the abstract shapes and neon colors. The overkill use of mirrors all over and the fact that they made white and pastels so popular.

family portrait Pictures, Images and Photos

I miss the hair. Oh yes, the hair. I had the hair too. My dad warned me that I would look back one day and think how ridiculous it looked but I insisted I would not. He was right.....but I still miss it.

Atari Adventure Pictures, Images and Photos

I miss the games. We had an Atari and my favorite game was Adventure (above). It was such a fun game! My mom ended up selling the system and all the games at a flea market cause it got old after awhile. Wish we still had it cause I miss it.

the breakfast club Pictures, Images and Photos

I miss the movies. Okay sure, I can watch them anytime but I can never relive those days when they were made. I really enjoy the movies made in the 80's.

Being so young again without a care in the world (besides school and getting in trouble by my dad or my parents always arguing) I wish I could go back in time and relive those 80's moments.
Relive those moments of family time as a child with my parent's. Relive those moments when two of my grandparent's were still alive. Relive those moments of pure innocence.
I sure miss it!

The Voice Makes All The Difference

Since my daughter is sick, we have been watching cartoon after cartoon from our Netflix membership through the Wii machine. Totally awesome, by the way!!

So, once we finished watching Clifford's Big Movie, my daughter started to browse through the different children's titles. We saw Kipper the dog. What a cute dog too. He actually looks like a little puppy.

Kipper Pictures, Images and Photos

It wasn't until she pushed play that we came to the realization that Kipper isn't a cute little puppy but instead an adult Englishman. WHAT?!

Me: I expected him to sound cute.

My daughter: I know! I thought he was a puppy.

Me: Me too

My daughter: I don't actually like it.

Me: Why? Because he doesn't sound cute?

My daughter: Yeah!

Honestly, if they're gonna make a Align Centercute little puppy, or any cute little character for that matter, they need to have a cute voice to go with it.

Isn't it funny how a simple voice will turn you away from something?!
Oh, and before I close, my daughter just said "Kipper is an adult and he likes to play with toys. Isn't that weird? Isn't it?!" Silly, silly girl!

Four Days Is Better Than Two!

Okay, so maybe I'm not enjoying my days on a sandy white beach enjoying the gorgeous aqua blue ocean drinking a pina colada with one of those cute little umbrella. No....but my two day weekend did turn into a four day weekend.

It all started on Thursday, my normal day off. I got the call. You know, the one from the school telling me my child has a temperature and doesn't feel good. She came home sick, throwing up and her temperature kept going up.

As the evening progressed and after taking three naps she started to feel better...........until the morning. Yep, waking up to body aches and throwing up one last time. Theeeeeeen, she was better. However, since I was waiting for my husband to get home early, my boss said there just wasn't any reason coming into work so late. YAH! Then again, I do like the money.
She's better now yes, but she is now suffering from pink eye now. Oh yeah, and she also sounds like she's getting a cold now. When it rains, it pours.

So, here I am watching movie after movie. As we speak, I'm watching "Look Who's Talking Now".

So back to that picture above. Yeah, I sure wish I was there right now. Well, we are planning a vacation later this year. A little Key West and Orlando fun. Yeah, so maybe that hammock on the white sandy beaches overlooking the gorgeous aqua blue ocean drinking that pina colado may just be closer that I thought. We'll see.

~~~
Okay, now it's your turn. Head on over to Cate's place and see what others are saying.
It's Friday!! You know what that means.....Fabulous Foto Friday! With me missing the last couple weeks, I was bound to have a post ready this week after going to Yosemite. I will try to be better each week. It's just proven to be difficult with the constant rain. I don't get much picture taking in when it's all wet outside.
Anyways, without further adu, I hope you enjoy....
Earth Day!
I've never really paid much attention to Earth Day although I do recycle paper, cans and plastic bottles but I'm not green by no means.
This weekend though, when we went to Yosemite, I started thinking and looking at the Earth in a whole different way. Seeing how majestic, massive and just down right gorgeous Yosemite is with Half Dome, El Capitan, the walls of granite and all the beautiful waterfalls, it just amazes me.
As we were leaving the park, I was just staring out my window looking out at El Capitan and how massive it is..... Simply Gorgeous! Imagining that people actually scales the sides of it.
It just amazes me all the beautiful places in this world that the Lord has created! The beauty of it and we really do need to take care of this beatiful home of ours. Otherwise, we won't be able to enjoy such beauty and I won't be able to take pictures of it.
And that would truly be a shame.
~~~

I was originally supposed to spend this Earth day going to the movies to see Disney's Ocean but I now have a sick little girl here at home. Instead, I'm watching a little piglet running for his daddy as he gets shipped off. Yeah, don't ask.

Okay....if you must know, this will explain it.
~~~
So, how are you spending Earth day? Do you even pay attention?
Why God Made Moms
I received this in an email this week. I thought it was cute and wanted to share it. Also, since these are answers given by second grade school children and my daughter is in 2nd grade, I wanted to see what my daughter would say....hee hee ;O)
Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.
My daughter's response: Because mommy's are nice and they love their babys.
How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.
My daughter's response: Out of dirt and stuff that Adam and Eve were made of.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.
My daughter's response: Out of their mom's and dad's.
Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mom like me.
My daughter's response: Because my mom is the nicest mom.
What kind of a little girl was your mom?
1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.
My daughter's response: A nice, shy, funny, smart, beautiful & a good girl.
What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?
My daughter's response: How much he loved her.
Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.
My daughter's response: Because daddy loves her a lot.
Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.
My daughter's response: Mom and dad because they tell me what to do just like their boss tell them what to do.
What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
My daughter's response: Moms don't watch the Sharks (hockey) but daddy does. Mommy likes to snuggle with me and daddy never does. Daddy's good at math and mommy's not.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.
My daughter's response: Blog, talk to her friend for an hour or two, goes on Facebook, watches movies, plays on the computer.
What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.
My daughter's response: She already is perfect!
If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.
My daughter's response: Nothing. I don't want anything to be changed cause I like the way that she is.
The Hollywood "in crowd"?
My husband says it's the "Hollywood "in" thing". If you ask me, I'm just disgusted by all these men's behavior.
What am I talking about, you ask?
Well let's see? What do these men have in common?
Tiger Woods Pictures, Images and Photos
JJ Pictures, Images and Photos
LARRY KING Pictures, Images and Photos
CHEATERS!!!
I just don't understand what it is about people that cheat. The question I would like answered is this....
WHY GET MARRIED???
If you're not happy, talk to the person or get out of the situation before it gets to this point. Sure, everyone's situation is different and they may have their own complications but it is their duty as a spouse to let the other know they are not happy.
In fact, there's one story I heard where one spouse wanted out but the other wouldn't allow it so the one that wanted out went off and had an affair and made it to where they would get caught just so it was "blunt" that they wanted out. Ummm....ever heard of MOVING OUT?? I think that's pretty "blunt" without being a jerk about it. Sad. Just sad.
Maybe I'm just "old fashion" in that sense. I got married and took my vows seriously and would never cheat on my husband. No matter what storms may come. I'll leave before that would ever enter my mind.
So, as my husband said, perhaps it's the "Hollywood "it" thing" to do. If it is, it's lame and I want no part of that "in crowd"!
I would however, like to be apart of this
Another Weekend Outing. Hiking In Yosemite!
It has been quite a while since we've been to Yosemite. Honestly, it's been longer than I thought. It wasn't until I was searching my pictures that I realized how long it's been. First of all, I didn't even have my Canon camera yet which tells me it's been at least 2 years. We last went in February 2008. After looking at the pictures, it just doesn't seem that long ago but a lot has changed since. Can't wait to see what photos I can capture this time with my camera!
Have a wonderful weekend!
It's over and I'm back!
Can I just say one thing?
HALLELUJAH!!!
Tax season is over and I get the next 3 days off and then I'm back to my regular work schedule, 3 days a week!!
HALLELUJAH!!!
So, with this being my first day off of three, I got to take my baby girl to school. What a joy it is too. I just love taking her to school. Giving her mooches!
Anyways
So, as I was leaving, I happened to glance into the school nurse's office and what do I see?
Monkey Love Pictures, Images and Photos
Okay, so maybe I didn't exactly see monkeys picking bugs out of each other but it sure made me think of that.
It was the nurse combing through some girl's hair which only means one thing....
Lice Pictures, Images and Photos
UGH!!!
I just keep flashing back to a couple years ago when Noodle got it and I could not for the life of me get rid of it for like 3 months. Yes.....3 MONTHS!!!
WHAT. A. NIGHTMARE!!!
I seriously spent 2 hours every day to every other day trying to kills these buggers. I tried mayo. I washed the bedding every other day. I vacuumed and sprayed the couches every day.
Then I was introduced to the metal comb. Yeah, I didn't have that one from the beginning. Lame, right?! I could have had this taken care of months ago had I had this thing. However, each time I bought RID, it always came with the stupid plastic comb that didn't work so I actually had to use a regular comb and go through literally every few pieces of hair.
WHAT. A. NIGHTMARE!!!
So, needless to say, I think it's ponytail time again!
