As Promised....The "Bend & Snap" on video!

Remember when I said here that my husband was doing the whole "bend & snap" from the Legally Blonde movie? It was the funniest thing ever! He had a few too many to drink that night so it made it easier for him to do it however, I didn't have a camera ready, much less...a camcorder.

WELL........

A couple nights ago we were bugging my husband to do it again. I mean, our daughter didn't even get to see it the original time. She wanted her daddy to do it for her, doggone it!

Again, he was drinking. Again, my sister-in-law was over the house. We were finally able to pursuade him!!!

One exception though.

He had to go incognito! LOL!

Throw on a Billy Ray Cyrus mullet wig with my Disneyland hat, a couple balloon boobies (to mimic Jennifer Coolidge in the movie), sunglasses and a scarf, just to add a touch of a tacky flare.......

And I give you......

My husband doing "The Bend & Snap"!
(Oh, and my husband said he hopes he has provided much laughs for all of you so please don't forget to give him some comment love so he doesn't feel like he made an ass out of himself!! LOL)

Old Sacramento

Last week we went to Old Sacramento for the day. I love going there. Just to simply walk around and sort of feel like I've stepped back in time for a tiny bit.

Usually when we go there, we'll hit some of the shops, have lunch and grab some candy in one of the little candy stores. The ones with all the different candy and taffy in the big barrels.

This time though, we thought we would try and do a little more. One of the main reasons for this trip was for the fact that I've been wanting to take our daughter to the Train Museum.

Once we finally got to Old Sacramento, we first stopped of at a replica of an old school. Super cute too. Then I had to get a picture of Noodle looking like the teacher.

Once inside, here are some of the old desks from that time period. You sure don't see desk such nice ironwork anymore.

How adorable is this little school house. Bell and all.

During the Christmas holiday season, they have a special Polar Express train ride event. Also, a Santa Starlight Express. Unfortunately, I just checked and they're sold out already. Doggone it!! I guess I'll just have to check next year.

Once in the museum, we decided to take the guided tour, since this was our first time here. Well, at least that we can recall. Back in elementary school, we took a field trip out here and I wouldn't doubt this was one of the places we visited. I just don't remember. That's nothing new.

Anyways, since the building of the railroad was from the mid 1880's, it was during President Abraham Lincolns time.

They also had one of his real guns he used.

There were so many trains in this place. It was simply amazing! I think we found a new love for trains! The history behind, truly amazing!

And such detail they had back in the 1800's, nothing like you see today.

Nope, definitely not like you see today.

Then we took a stroll through some of the little shops and just couldn't resist some overly sized Elvis glasses!

Or even an adorable shot of my baby girl.

Then, we decided to head on over to the State Capital. It was already too late for a tour but that didn't discourage us one bit. Heck, I think I got me a couple great pics, if you ask me!
The tree right smack in the front is this years annual Christmas tree. They were actually putting it up when we got there.

Such a gorgeous building! In fact, I find it simply amazing all the detail they put into this building during those times. If only they put that kind of detail into the building nowadays.

The we made our way a couple blocks away to the Governors Mansion. Again, it was too late for any tours but that will be for our next trip I guess. It's a museum now.
The last Governor to reside here was Ronald Regan along with Nancy and their two children.
(This shot I got personally looks a bit spooky.)

We had so much fun! It's always fun learning new things and the history behind it. I've always had a huge interest in the 1800's for different reasons. Now I have another reason. Plus, having a new found love for something that we happen to see and hear on a daily basis.
So, what type of adventures do you have fun taking in your neck of the woods?

Six Word Saturday!

A week ago today I asked my daughter if she would like to do a blog post just for fun. Her first response was "Yeah! I'll do my Christmas list too!" Uh, yeah....I don't think so. It would just be too long of a post and I'm sure all of you already get the whole "I want this for Christmas, Mom" and you don't want to read it on someone else's blog.

So the next day, while my husband, my daughter and I were on our way to Old Sacramento, my daughter and I had this conversation:

Noodle: "Mommy, you know how you said I could do a blog post?"

Me: Yeah

Noodle:
Well, I decided I want to do one for Six Word Saturday.

Me: Okay! What would you have it say?

~~~
And do you have any idea what she came up with?
Of course you don't.......but it's good.....
And friggen hilarious! It had my husband and I busting up laughing!
So, without further adu, I give you my daughter's first Six Word Saturday!!
I Hate When My Mom Blogs!
It's your turn! Head on over to Cate's to participate or at the very least, see what others are saying.
Writers Workshop: Thanksgiving Edition
With it being Thanksgiving, I have to take a moment and say "Thank you Mama Kat for our weekly prompts! When I have a week where I can't think of anything to write about, there you are to provide me with something. Thank you so much!!"
Now head over to Mama Kat's to participate!
Okay, this week I've decided to do two prompts. #4 and #5.
With #4, I was originally not going to write about this because my daughter didn't want me to blog about it but it seriously made my husband and I laugh and I wanted to share it with you all. (sorry baby!! Mommy loves you!) I just hope it isn't one of those "You just had to be there" moments. At the very least, I hope it puts a smile on your face.
With #5, I just HAD to do the Thanksgiving poem because I am very grateful for what I have!
4.) Write a story in exactly 101 words. (winner gets a 25 dollar gift card!)(inspired by Jennifer from The Peterson's Go Public)
During a recent trip to Old Sacramento, we were having random conversations. At one point, we starting talking about our Tuesday movie night that was coming up. We recently decided to make Tuesdays movie night, so we wanted to decide on what movie we would go see. As we were naming movies, my husband would say "I don't want to see that" or I would say "That's PG-13, not appropriate for the baby". Then my husband said...
Husband: "How about we get a babysitter and we'll go on a date?"
Me: "Awww, yeah! That's so sweet!"
Baby: "Awwwww....NOT so sweet!!"
My Thanksgiving Poem
It's that time again
It's a reminder of what we should say
A reminder to be thankful
For each and every day
For our loved ones in our lives
Who bring love and joy to us
For it is them
That we so care for and trust
For it is a reminder
Not to take those we so dearly love
And our lives for granted
But to thank the Good Lord above!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!
My Christmas List
Do you know what you want for Christmas?
I love shopping for gifts.
I love giving them also, to the ones I love and seeing the look on their faces when they open it. I find delight in it all!
But don't you love receiving gifts too?
Be honest now.
I do!
Every year as a child at Christmas time, I would open all my gifts and start playing with them. Not more than a few hours later would I see some great toy on tv and be all "I want that for Christmas next year!"
That's normal for a kid. Right?
Now that I'm older, I don't require alot. In fact, I'm just happy to have my family around me, good food, Christmas music, laughter and good memories to share.
I'm just thankful to have the ones in my life that love me so much! How can you ask for a better gift than that? You can't!
But.....
If you're asking what I want for Christmas, I would tell you...
A Hood Lens for my camera
Photoshop Software
VS Bra
Although, I do hope (*hint hint honey*) that I won't have to wait until Christmas, you know..that is a month away and I am officially in the irritated stage of bra wearing. The stupid thing is now creeping up my back and if he were a woman, he would know that it is unexceptable to have a bra creeping up the back! Just saying.
Let's move on, shall we...
Hmmm? What else? Oh yes...
A Hair Cut! Yes, my friends, that is well overdue!
And since I'm picky.....
And I'm not finding what I want anyways, I can't share a picture.
~~~

See, I'm not asking much this year.

So.....What's on your Christmas List?

Bad, Bad Doggie!

Has it honestly been a week already? Geez..I wish the time would slow down sometimes.

Well, anywho...here it is, another week with Mama Kat.

This week's prompt that I have chosen to do is:

2.)Describe the most destructive thing your pet has done.
(inspired via Twitter by @alisha41481 from A Day In The Life Of Okie Rednecks)

Needless to say, I was not a happy camper the day my dog was nonetheless...DESTRUCTIVE! No sirree!

It all started in the bathroom. We remodeled our hall bathroom a couple years ago. We took out the old sink that had the counter that extended over the toilet. That just wasn't appealing to me. Instead, we went to Costco and bought a lovely wood vanity with a marble counter. Absolutely a beautiful piece of furniture, I might add. In fact, it has an antique look to it, if you ask me.

We got a nice mirror and light fixture to accent the vanity. A couple pictures to set the tone. I was pleased! It all came together so nicely. Didn't look like the same bathroom.

So, one day (about 9 mths ago maybe) when I was in the bathroom...looking around....doing my business....that's when I noticed it. *GASP* "BABE!!! Come here!!" My husband comes in the bathroom and I point to the bottom corner of the vanity. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was all chewed up in the corner.

Me: "How the heck did that happen"?

Hubby: I have no idea.

Noodle: I don't know. I didn't do it.

Me: You think Ozzy did that?

Hubby: Probably. (pause) OOOZZZZZY!

When I finally got up to get a closer look, I noticed on the side of the vanity that there was one of Ozzy's toys. He must have been trying to get his toy and in the process, thought gnawing on the vanity would help him retrieve it. I. DON'T. THINK. SO! But you can't tell a dog that. He's a dog for goodness sakes!

Meanwhile Ozzy comes in and we're all "Bad doggie. BAD!" pointing to what he did.

Needless to say, the vanity still looks like that. Maybe one of these days I'll get one of those wood pens. Maybe that will help. Or Not. Who knows, but I'm not happy about it.....still!
Now it's your turn. Head over to Mama Kat's and see what others are blogging about.

Holiday Internet Fun

Now that the holidays are approaching, here are a few things for you during the holidays.

For those of us that don't have a life (according to my husband) and like to play on the computer and get addicted to all the applications that Facebook has to offer, I've got some holiday fun for you! In fact, my husband finds this game to be fun! As does my daughter and myself.

This is a game where you have to connect all the circuits to light up all the bulbs on the Christmas Tree.

(Just click the icon to play)

~~~
How about Christmas cards? Are you buying the store made ones or ordering the ones you can download a picture to send to all your family and friends? I've used a couple sites in the past when having the custom photo card, Kodakgallery.com and Vistaprint.com.
Right now, Vistaprint has a special with select Christmas photo cards.
5"x7" Christmas Photo Folded Cards - 20 qty start at $1.99.
4"x8" Christmas Photo Cards - 20 qty start at $1.99.
To redeem this offer, go to:
I love this website cause they have so much stuff and you can seriously find deals all the time from them that are super cheap! I get emails from them all the time. It's great!
~~~

Oh, and are you like me where you want to listen to Christmas music already? Like when you're on the computer fiddling around playing games or editing pictures? Well, if you don't have a station online that is already playing Christmas music, I've got one for you.

Just click onto "Listen Live - Koit Christmas" on the sidebar off to the right.

~~~
And lastly, here's a poem I would like to share...
The Nicest Present
Under the tree the gifts enthrall,
But the nicest present of them all
Is filling our thoughts with those who care,
Wanting our Christmas joy to share.
To you, whom we're often thinking of,
We send our holiday joy and love.
I Like To Remember
Yesterday I wasn't completely out of the woods, per se.
Since Wednesday I had a migraine. Just something I have to deal with in this life. I even went home a couple hours early from work on Friday. I. WAS. MISERABLE!
When I got home, I went straight to bed. Hadn't eaten anything. I hate it when I feel like that cause I feel nauseous, can't think, sure in the heck don't want to drive the 45 min home, in traffic. I probably shouldn't have gone in in the first place but I need the money. It was the boss that sent me home though. I was working, getting stuff done. At a slow pace, I might add though.
When I get these migraines, I get these continuous thoughts in my head. Thinking about when I was just feeling good a few days earlier. Thinking about when I might feel better again and the relief I will feel.
I think about when I'm enjoying taking my daughter's picture when she is being silly...
Or when my husband was skipping rocks...
Or when we were all being complete ding dongs on the smallest metal swing set I've ever seen...
Or when my daughter was having fun climbing the jungle gym...
Or remembering when my daughter and I were making our own candles at a quaint little place in Columbia State Park, having a good time!
Then the day comes when my head clears, I can enjoy my days again......just as I had remembered.
My punishment
Here it is, a new week and new prompts from Mama Kat. This week I have DSL working so I can actually join in the fun and link up to Mr. Linky. YAH for DSL!
So, the prompt I have chosen this week is:
1.) Describe the best/most creative punishment you have ever given your children or received yourself. (inspired via Twitter by Maya from Musings Of A Marfan Mom)
Honestly, I don't think I've gotten really creative in punishing my child. So I thought of something that I had been punished for and if it was creative. That's when I remembered!
I was probably around 7 or 8 yrs old. Every night before we went to bed, my brother and I were to go to the bathroom first. My dad was very strict (he still is but it doesn't matter cause I don't live under his roof anymore...ha ha!) and if we didn't go potty before going to bed and had to later in the night, we would get into trouble.
Well, this particular night I had to go potty so I snuck into the bathroom. I don't recall not flushing the toilet but something alerted my dad so he came into my room and asked me what I was doing. I got nervous and that's when my little brain got to thinking....should I be honest or lie? At the time I thought it was a good idea, so I lied. I told him that I was looking out my bedroom window. Don't ask me why. "Yeah dad, I wanted to look at the moon. Perhaps see the cow jump over it too!" Nah, I didn't say that but at that age, what else would I want to look out the window for? Nothing, that's why I was in the bathroom but I couldn't tell him that.
So what was my punishment? I had to stand at my window and stare into the night sky. Doesn't sound so bad, right? Wrong! I was exhausted. I wanted to be in my bed, doggone it. You know when you're so tired and your eyes start to flutter open and shut, and then your body starts to sway? Yeah, that was me. I wanted to go to bed and I was ready to fall asleep and just the agony of trying to stay awake was torture.
That was the last time I pulled that one.
Now head over to Mama Kat's and read what other people are writing about.
The Bend and Snap
We went camping this weekend after the baby shower.
Oh yeah, you're all probably wondering how the talk went with "C" and her "F" word outburst, huh? Yeah, well, it didn't go as planned. Just as the shower was starting and "C" sat down, she got a call from my BIL and he told her that her Grandma (she calls her Mom cause she raised her) and apparently her Grandma had surgery a couple days before on her artery in her neck cause it was clogged. When she was sent home the day before the shower she had a seizure on the way home so she went back to the hospital. The call "C" got at the shower was informing her she had a blood clot in her brain. So, no talk. That would have been tacky on my part and just mean too and I'm not that mean!
So anyways, we went camping after the shower. We always stay in this little cabin/shed thing. It has a bunk bed, a double bed, fridge and microwave and a bathroom (no shower though). We love staying in it cause it's just what we need for the overnight trips.
So, it was getting late and my husband had been drinking for the last few hours. My daughter was already asleep but my SIL, my husband and I were still awake and just chatting about whatever.
As my husband was talking, he would close his eyes. He was getting tired. Drunk and tired but he still had the expressions in his face. It looked funny!
My daughter and I like the movie Legally Blonde and we sometimes like to mimic the "Bend and Snap" that Reese teaches Jennifer Coolidge in the movie. With the way Jennifer does it, it's so hilarious cause she's just all over the place.
So, my husband was drunk and starts doing the "bend and snap". He looked just. like. Jennifer Coolidge too!!! It was hilarious!!! At one point when he "Snapped", he bonked his head on the wood beam in the cabin. LOL! Poor guy but it was too funny!!
I tried to get pictures but he refused to do it again for the camera. I'll get those pictures. You just wait.....and then I'll share it all with you!! lol
Writing Assignment: All five
I love Mama Kat's weekly prompts. Only thing, I haven't done them in a couple weeks so when I saw this week's prompts, I thought what a perfect time to jump on board again. Have you yet? If not, go check her out cause it's super, duper fun!
So anyways, here are this weeks prompts. I decided to answer all:
1.) Describe something you're proud of.(inspired via Twitter by Summer from Le Musings Of Moi)
Um, yeah....I'm a mommy so this is so obvious. I'm proud of my daughter and the fact that we just had our parent teacher conference. She's in 2nd grade (she's in a 2nd/3rd grade combo class) and is already reading past the 3rd graders in her class. She is to be ready 100 words/min by the end of the school year and she is already reading 108 words. She even answers the 3rd graders questions correctly cause none of the 3rd graders had the answer. Also, on her assessment tests, she is in the "Advance" portion of the grading! Yah for my baby girl!! I have a smart child on my hands. Now, if only she'll keep up the good work through 12th grade.
2.) Tell me your most humorous wedding experience(inspired by Bree from Breezy Butterfly Creations)
My husband and I were at a wedding in Buffalo, NY back in 1999 and during the wedding reception my husband, his cousin and I were on the dance floor. Mind you, my husband had a t-shirt under his suit which read "I don't give a F*** what you think". Well, a song came on, one that was perfect for the unveiling of this t-shirt and his cousin was chanting "Savage" (my husband's nickname) as my husband took his dress shirt off to reveal the lovely words to the wedding party, the bride and groom and their parents. Yah, they weren't too happy about that but it was hilarious!!
THEN, (yeah, it doesn't stop there) there was this one guy, Turk who was friend's with my husband's cousin. Well, we were all outside the wedding reception and Turk goes up to the window of another wedding reception that was going on and pulled his pants down, put his rear up to the window and smashed his "special area" up to the window for all the guest to see. LMAO! Yeah, they weren't happy about that either. Good times!
3.) 10 reasons why you can't sleep at night(inspired by Roxane from It Really Is All About Me)
This doesn't apply to me cause I can lay down on my bed and be out in 5 mins. Yah for sleep!!
4.) Describe an experience that you wish you could shake from your memory.
Yeah, we don't want to go here.
5.) Write a love letter to the object of your affection.
Since I try not to idol things, especially anything material, this is completely out of fun! I tried thinking of something (not someone) and I couldn't think of anything except my car.
My Dear Diamante,
You have just celebrated your 7th birthday with me. I have cherished every driving moment with you. You have been such a wonderful car to me. You have provided comfort for my sensitive tushy (fractured tailbone twice), you have taken care of me through two separate rear-ends and one back-into. I have taken care of you and treated you with love and care. Making sure the little one doesn't spill or ruin your lovely leather seats. I even reprimand her when she leans her feet with pressure on the console. Even though you have taken us on many drives, they have all been super comfy and warm. You always provide such wonderful music sounds to my ears. Unless of course my husband joins us with his music.
I know we just bought another car but don't think for a single second that I love that car more than you. Not. At. All. Unless of course it was my Camaro. Whoops, did I just say that out loud? No I didn't! Pay no attention to that.
Anyways, every time my hubby asks me which car I like best, it's always you, my dear Diamante! I make every excuse just to drive you. When it rains, I can't drive the Mustang for it is a stick shift (two slippery scares were enough for me). Now that we have the new car, I will need to give you a break. Your miles are just getting too high and I don't want to risk loosing you. I will make sure you are nice and warm in the garage during those rainy days. Do know that I won't forget about you and will take you out to play at least once a week. Just know I'm doing this cause I love you! I hope to enjoy many many, more lovely years with you!
All my love,
Your faithful owner
I wish I hadn't committed myself.
So, I mentioned that I am hosting a baby shower, right?
I love baby showers! I love going to them but I don't think I have actually hosted one before. Hmm, have I? Uh, I don't think so?
Anyways.
So, I'm hosting this baby shower this weekend and it's for my brother-in-law's girlfriend/fiance (we'll call her "C").
When we were all camping together a few weeks back, my BIL had mentioned that "C" had never had a baby shower with either of her two previous kids. I totally felt bad. Here, I have only had one kid but had 3 baby showers just for that one. To think that this poor girl has never had a baby shower before just broke my heart.
So, my SIL and I started to conger up a plan. "Let's throw "C" a baby shower!" Once we got back home from camping, a few days later my MIL emails me saying how nice that was of me to offer to do this and if it's okay that it's at my house, blah, blah, blah. I was totally fine with it and when my husband talked to his mom about it later, it was confirmed that "yes, we'll be having the shower here at our house". So there you have it. I have now committed myself.
Well........
Then we find out that "C" was not happy about us showing up at camping. My BIL had invited us and we told him we would be there the next day from when they arrived. My daughter even mentioned it to "C" that we would be there. Well apparently my BIL never told "C" that he had invited us so when we all arrived home, to our own homes that is, my MIL shared with us (cause my BIL and "C" live there with my in-law's) that "C" was ranting and raving about the fact that we showed up at camping. That it was for their anniversary, meanwhile it was okay that her brother was there with them at the same campsite. Oh, and let me set the record straight, we had our own campsite a few sites down.
Okay, so that is my problem #1.
Now, a couple weeks ago my MIL had picked up my daughter from school. She took her back to her house and while my daughter was there, my BIL and my daughter started goofing off.
Now mind you, my BIL is 27 yet acts much younger.
My BIL started play pinching my daughter and my daughter started kicking cause it hurt. Well, she accidentally kicked "C's" one year old. Okay, I'm a protective mommy and I'm not saying that my child kicking her child is okay but maybe my BIL should not have been pinching her. "C" on the other hand is overly OVERLY protective.
Case in point, one day my little 2 yr old nephew pushed her one year old over and "C" started yelling and telling my in-law's that "I don't want this kid over here anymore." Um, okay, first of all, who is she to tell them, in their own home that their grandchild is not to be there anymore because he pushed her one year old over? Give me a break! Second, he's a boy and this isn't gonna be the last time this happens. She babies this child and he cries uncontrollably at the lightest fall. She needs to allow him to be a boy. I'm just saying.
So, when my daughter accidentally kicked her child, what did she yell???
"F*** you two!!"
WHAT??? WHAT??? WHAT???
She DID NOT just say the "F" word AT my child?
THIS is my problem #2!!!
At this point, I don't want to throw this shower for her.
But because my MIL had already bought stuff for the shower cause we are both going in halves on this, I did not want to say anything (at this point) to detour "C" from showing up at the baby shower. So I haven't said anything......YET! Believe me, this has been quite the struggle for me. I am wanting to handle this in a positive yet rational manner and giving her the whole mother look!
However, come the end of the baby shower I will be pulling "C" aside to share my thoughts on her "F" word outburst.
If anyone she should have yelled at was my BIL cause he is the adult here and he was instigating the whole thing. I am just appalled by the whole thing and anticipating this whole baby shower being over. O. V. E. R!!! Who knows how she will handle my parental reprimand! She may just storm off like Paris Hilton. Possible blurting out her "F" word!
