My punishment

Here it is, a new week and new prompts from Mama Kat. This week I have DSL working so I can actually join in the fun and link up to Mr. Linky. YAH for DSL!

So, the prompt I have chosen this week is:

1.) Describe the best/most creative punishment you have ever given your children or received yourself. (inspired via Twitter by Maya from Musings Of A Marfan Mom)

Honestly, I don't think I've gotten really creative in punishing my child. So I thought of something that I had been punished for and if it was creative. That's when I remembered!

I was probably around 7 or 8 yrs old. Every night before we went to bed, my brother and I were to go to the bathroom first. My dad was very strict (he still is but it doesn't matter cause I don't live under his roof anymore...ha ha!) and if we didn't go potty before going to bed and had to later in the night, we would get into trouble.

Well, this particular night I had to go potty so I snuck into the bathroom. I don't recall not flushing the toilet but something alerted my dad so he came into my room and asked me what I was doing. I got nervous and that's when my little brain got to thinking....should I be honest or lie? At the time I thought it was a good idea, so I lied. I told him that I was looking out my bedroom window. Don't ask me why. "Yeah dad, I wanted to look at the moon. Perhaps see the cow jump over it too!" Nah, I didn't say that but at that age, what else would I want to look out the window for? Nothing, that's why I was in the bathroom but I couldn't tell him that.

So what was my punishment? I had to stand at my window and stare into the night sky. Doesn't sound so bad, right? Wrong! I was exhausted. I wanted to be in my bed, doggone it. You know when you're so tired and your eyes start to flutter open and shut, and then your body starts to sway? Yeah, that was me. I wanted to go to bed and I was ready to fall asleep and just the agony of trying to stay awake was torture.

That was the last time I pulled that one.

Now head over to Mama Kat's and read what other people are writing about.

That's funny, now what's even funnier is when you say to your parents "Remember that?" and they look at you like you are nuts!

That is creative. I can't see my dudes going along with it, they'd scream the ENTIRE time!

I did this prompt too and it was interesting to remember all the ways my parents came up with to torture... I mean...punish me. I think your punishment was creative and effective ... though I do think it is a little harsh to punish a kid for having to pee in the middle of the night.

This was before you were old enough to realize that "parents know everything". LOL

You probably have such issues at night when you wake up and have to go now. ha...I wonder why that bothered him so much...
