"Annoying"...

Sometimes I forget my daughter is only 8 years old. The things she says is what you would hear from an adult. I'm proud of her.....she's smart!

Not to toot my own horn *toot* but when she took the California required S.T.A.R. tests last year, her scores all came back indicating she is advanced in everything! Again I'm proud of her.

But let's get back to the point I'm making....

My daughter dressed up like a Pirate girl but because we stopped off at my parent's house prior to trick-or-treating, my daughter left her pirate hat at my parent's house. She didn't notice that she left it until the very moment I pulled into our driveway at home. I was not about to drive 6 miles back to pick up the hat. My daughter needs to learn responsiblity, so instead, she chose to wear an extra witches hat we had in the garage. Not thrilled she was wearing it but whatever.

So later, I took her trick-or-treating with a friend of mine and her daughter and then my friend's friend whom I've only met one other time. Nice gal, but....

So, while we are watching the kids run from house to house, my daughter stops and asks me "Mommy, can you please hold my hat? It's annoying me." I replied saying sure. That's when I overheard my friend's friend say "I don't think kids that age even know what "annoying" means." I said "Actually, my daughter does. She hears my husband and I talk all the time." She then carried on about how kids just use words not knowing what they mean anyways, blah, blah, blah.

Okay, first of all...who does she think she is? She now sounds like one of the kids. She doesn't even know my daughter! How does she know my daughter doesn't know the meaning? I know my daughter is only 8 years old but give the kid some credit. I'm sure she's not the only 8 year old out there that knows what the word "annoying" means.

That just annoyed me so bad (still does) that later, as we were driving home, I asked my daughter "Honey, what does the word "annoying" mean?" and she replied saying "It means when someone or something is bothering you."

OKAY?! Geez!

I know I shouldn't let it bother me but COME ON!

So, the word for today is.....ANNOYING!!
