Dear Charlie Brown...

This week over at Mama Kat's, she has some easy and yet challenging prompts. Originally I had chosen to do either #1 or #2 but my daughter had insisted that I do #3...

3.) Write an open later (I'm assuming this should have said letter, not later) to a cartoon character.

I was nervous. I don't usually do one of the "thinking" ones where I have to put much thought and creativity into it. I never said I was a writer. I just write for fun.

As the thought kept crossing my mind on this prompt and my daughter kept harassing me to write to Spongebob as I continually refused, a light bulb went off.

"I know, I'll write to Charlie Brown!"

I've been wanting to talk to good ol' Chuck for quite some time now, so with that said, here's my letter. :O)

Dear Charlie Brown,

I see you all the time looking so sad and people making fun of you and not being so nice. It makes me sad to see you trying to make friends with those otherwise bratty kids, and you know what? Who needs them?!
One, you have Linus. He's always been quite a good friend, sucking his thumb or not. Kind of cute, if you ask me. He seems to be a wise little kid too.

As for that Lucy, she sure could use a good talking to. Let me know if she ever gives you a bad time again, which we know she will, cause I've got your back, little buddy! Oh, and don't play football with her anymore. You know she has no intentions of letting you kick the ball.

As for that little red hair girl. Forget her! You can do so much better. She hasn't proven herself very nice to you and you're such a sweet little guy. Like that time you went to the party. How the heck could she not see you were there? I saw you! Next time I'll invite you to one of my parties. We'll show them!

As for Snoopy, I'm sorry but he's just one hip little doggy! He is so hilarious! He just needs a little obedience. I'll help you with that. At least I'll try. My own dog has actually become quite the pain himself. Constantly begging for cookies and not giving up until he gets one. So again, I'll try my best with this one. Otherwise, just look at it as this.....you have a cool dog!

One last thing, since Valentine's is coming and I know you're always checking your mailbox, I thought I would make sure you got a couple Valentine's cards this year.

This one is from yours truly...

and because my daughter loves to give Valentine's out to her friends, and yes, she considers you one of her friends, here is a card from her....

So, what I'm trying to say is, would you like to be my friend? I would be honored to have a cool little hip dude of a friend like you!
