Writing Assignment: As Time Stood Still

Mama Kat has some good prompts this week. Head over to join in on the fun!

I pondered the different prompts this week but one sort of stuck out to me the most. I thought of one thing to write about and then my husband reminded me of another. So, I will grace you with not ONE story, but TWO!! Yea you!!

The Prompt:

4.) Can you almost stop time with your words? Write about the fastest ride you ever had, but describe only a few seconds of it...as though it was happening in slow motion.

Story 1....

It was happening so fast. My mom and I just stared at each other in shock as her Ford Pinto spun out of control. We were speechless and had no words for what was happening but we knew it was about to come to an end....and quick. The time seemed to almost stand still though. Bracing ourselves, as the Pinto continued to spin out of control, it hit and caught grip of a guy wire pole, the car came to a sudden stop as it ended up being lifted off the street with the back end of the car up in the air stuck to this guy wire.

This all due to the result of my parents being the 20 something year olds that they were at the time, having a fun time racing when my mom lost control of her car. Just glad it didn't end bad. I can still drive by where the pole still stands and see that the concrete has been replace. Evidence of the lighter concrete.

Moving on.

Story 2....

As we continued to laugh and scream, that's when it happened. I couldn't believe my eyes either. Was this really happening? Just watching the water as it peeked right through the two seats, it was like it just stood there in mid-air heading right for my SIL. She had no idea either. It was right there in mine and my husbands viewing pleasure and it was awesome!

Just as it stood there in time, it unleashed it's fury on my SIL! SHE. WAS. SOAKED!!!!

It was seriously the funniest thing I have ever seen too. It happens to now be one of the stories we chat about with other Grizzly Run riders at California Adventure at Disneyland. Since then, we bought the ponchos and at night time, we are called "The Ponchos"! We rode that ride 8 times straight at night time and it's a competely different ride!!

~~~
Now, it's your turn! Head over to Mama Kat's to see what others are writing about.
Isn't it strange how time stretches from seconds to what seems like hours during a car accident?
And when your vehicle comes to rest, you're lurched back into real time again.
Glad it all turned out okay.
I've always wondered what it would feel like to have your car spin out of control. Scary!
And I never get to go on the grizzly run ride because it's always winter when I'm there and I don't want to experience the same fate as your SIL. Great post!
I just visited your other blog and I have to tell you that I loved how you compared our loving, caring for and enduring the difficulties in our relationships with others to what our Savior does for us. Beautiful! Brought tears to my eyes.
Crashes are always scary/exciting/time stopping. But it is amazing what and how we remember what is happening is such distorted detail.
