Writing Assignment: Mommywood

It's Mama Kat time again!

When I saw her prompts this week, I just knew which one I wanted to do.

5.) Book review time! What winter read has you snuggled in and turning pages?

Not that I have actually read a book from start to finish in less than a week, or a month or even a year for that matter. Nope. Not me!

You see, I was actually given my sTori Telling book (by none other than Tori Spelling) over a year ago. Mother's Day '08 to be exact. I started reading the book, a chapter every week or more. You see, I don't have time to read. I am a very busy gal. You'll rarely see me sitting.....unless of course I'm on the computer ;O)

Anyways, I had been reading my book last year and it got to a point that I was getting close to the end. Not sure how many chapters but the fact that I was more than half way through the book made me nervous. So you know what I did?

I stopped reading it!!

Until a year later on my birthday (this year) when I received my new book by Tori Spelling, Mommywood. But I didn't start reading it again then. It was only until a month ago or so when I ran out of work to do at work. So I picked up my book and finally finished it.

I knew I could finish that book now because I had a backup. I have now started reading Tori's new book and it is so good.

You see, I feel I can relate to Miss Tori too. She's a mom, I'm a mom. She cooks dinners, I cook dinner. She loves to be with her babies and I love to be with my baby. She stresses about all the things mommy's stress about when it comes to her child(ren) as I do. She is so normal to me!

As I thumb through each page, it's so hard to put it down. I just look forward to the next chapter but that's wherein the problem lies. She doesn't have a backup book for me yet. What will I ever do if I come to the end of this book and there is no backup book?

So, guess what I have done?

I've stopped reading it again!

BUT....

Let's look on the bright side. I decided to read the Acknowledgments (yes, before I even finished the book. See, getting nervous the end is near) and she says, and I quote "Hilary Liftin...Once again you captured my voice to a tee. You make my book me. And we have fun doing it! Thank you. And ohhh, (this is the part...*giggle*!!!) the stories I already have for our next book!"

Oh yah!! Another book. Well, Miss Tori...you better get on the ball cause I'm half way through this book!

***

Now, head on over to Mama Kat's to see what everyone else is writing about.

I just finished a book last night (a Jodi Picoult, she's GREAT if you like a very raw type of writing style)... and now I have nothing on my nightstand to read except Christmas catalogues! I know what you mean :)

Hahaha! I understand the feeling, though I can't say I've ever stopped readying for *that* long. :-p Have you ever tried Good Reads? It's a website where you enter the books you've read/are reading and connect with your friends that way, and poof! you've got an instant boo queue!

My favorite book place is our public library. From the comfort of my home, I can log in and put books I want on hold. When they are available, an email lets me know when it's time to pick up my next favorite read!

Also, they have Playaway audio books - add a battery and a headset, and there's no excuse to avoid housework...just listen while you clean (I'm still trying to figure out what the downside of this is...lol)

For most folks, the library is free. We pay $15/quarter for the privilege, because our town does not support the county library financially.

It's well worth the cost - I could easily spend $60 for two books at a local bookstore.

For the love of book, I actually got a book to read & I hope I do get to read it! I'm reading Christmas Box right now. Btw, I love Tori too. I was a fan during her 90210 days.
